Joseph William Theena and Emma C. Wiltz

April 27, 1896

Metamora, Woodford County, Illinois


The photograph was made in Pekin, IL at the Freese Art Studio on April 27, 1896 their wedding day. Note the lace background. They were married in St. Mary’s Church in Metamora, Woodford County, IL.

Joseph worked in his father’s butcher shop. Theena’s Meat Market was owned and operated by Joseph Anthony Theena on the village square in Metamora for many years. Emma was born in Metamora on July 03, 1873 but sadly she lived only for four years after their marriage. She died on April 20, 1900 and was buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Metamora. Emma was the daughter of Peter and Mary Josephine (Full) Wiltz. Joseph and Emma had no children.

Joseph W. married again to Pauline Rosalia aka Poly Fagot on April 21, 1915 in Los Angeles, California. Poly was born in Worth Township, Woodford County, IL on March 31, 1882. Joseph W. after the sale of the meat market purchased a hardware store from Frank Giehl, Jr.

Joseph W. who was born on August 11, 1871 died on March 31, 1943, sadly on Poly’s birthday. Poly lived until June 22, 1970. Both Joseph W. and Poly are buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Peoria. They had two children: Leota Rosalia Theena (1916-1984) and Joseph Francis Theena (1922-2003). Both are
buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Peoria, Peoria County, IL
