27 December 1958 Mrs. Mary Cable, 85, died at 9:35 p.m. Friday at the Heffner Nursing Home. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Vincent Memorial Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at the memorial home. She was born Jan. 30, 1873, near El Paso, a daughter of Frederick and Barbara Kridner. She was married to George Cable June 7, 1894. Surviving are her husband, three sons, Daniel, Grant Park; Stuarte, Gary, Ind.; Virgil, Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Sparks, Secor; Miss Dorothy Cable of R. R. 4, Bloomington; 16 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. A son preceded her in death. She was a member of the Nazarene Church.

Peoria Journal Star MINONK -- Anna G. F. Carls, 83, of 201 Locust St. died at 8:10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 1995, at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator. Born Feb. 1, 1912, in Minonk Township, Woodford County, to Gus and Anna Rients Timmerman, she married John W. Carls on April 3, 1930, in Flanagan. He died March 16, 1985. One son, one brother and two grandchildren also preceded her in death. Surviving are four daughters, Eileen Charlier and Evelyn Carlson, both of Minonk, Jo Ann Ladtkow of Orlando, Fla., and Aldien Gallup of Dunlap; three sons, Glen and Dwain, both of Minonk, and Dennis of Geneva; two sisters, Elise Kalkwarf of Minonk and Alice Baumann of Benson; two brothers, Elmer Timmerman and Raymond Timmerman, both of Minonk; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren

From undated, untitled newspaper clipping: Panola Township Resident Passes Away at Streator Hospital, Monday - Farmer for Quarter Century - Funeral Services Held at Windtown Church Yesterday Afternoon - Burial at Church Cemetery Harm Carls, aged 45 years, residing eight miles southeast of this city in Panola township, died in the Streator hospital about noon last Monday where he had submitted to an operation for appendicitis the week before. The deceased was born on a farm in Nebraska township on Jan. 9, 1880; died Aug. 31, 1925; aged 45 years, 7 months and 22 days. He was married to Miss Minnie Obert on Dec. 6, 1899 and seven children blessed this union: Mrs. Henry Durre of Flanagan, Simon Carls of Panola and Jake, Edna, John, Clarence and Lester at home, who with the sorrowing widow are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. He also leaves an aged father, Simon Carls of Flanagan, and a stepmother, together with one brother and five sisters, viz: Mrs. Eilert Doden of Flanagan, Mrs. John Oltman of Benson, Hilliard Carls of Minonk, Mrs. Wm. Gerth of Barnum, Ia., Mrs. Wm. Bounds of Lexington, and Mrs. John Geiken of Benson. One grandchild, Darlene Durre, also survives. Mr. Carls resided on various farms in Minonk, Nebraska and Panola townships during the last quarter century and was well and favorably known throughout this community. He was of a quiet and unassuming disposition and was a good citizen. He was a school director in his district and was a member of the Lutheran church at Windtown. Funeral services were held at the late residence at 1:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon and at 2 o'clock at the Windtown church, conducted by Rev. E.V. Schroeder and assisted by Rev. O.H. Groth of Flanagan. Burial was made at the church cemetery. The pallbearers were: John Fortman, Fritz Reinhardt, U.J. Lutjens, John Doorn, Galt I. Eden and Herman Doorn. The flower bearers were: Sena and Bertha Park, Alice and Bernice Doorn, Julina Wiechman and Anna Fortman.

Bloomington, Illinois Pantagraph WENONA -- Richard E. "Pops" Christ, 71, of 114 N. Hickory St., Wenona, died at 5:26 p.m. Wednesday (April 11, 2007) at BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, shortly after arrival. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Minonk, with the Rev. Craig Swenson officiating. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Wenona. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Mr. Christ was born in Toluca on Nov. 25, 1935, son of Elmer and Henrietta Pelz Christ. He married Marilyn Winkel on Aug. 4, 1957. He served with the Army National Guard in the late 1950s. He retired from Owens Glass Co. in Streator. He owned and operated Pops Sweet Shop in Minonk for the past four years. He and his wife operated the Snack Shack in Wenona for 23 years working with the auctioneers Leonard Stonier, Ron Schmidgal and Cal Kaufman. He served on the Wenona City Council; he was a volunteer for the BroMenn Medical Center; and he was a member of the Minonk Businessmen's Association. He was an organ donor. He is survived by three daughters Shelly Butler, Minonk; Kelly (Mike) Seggerman, Minonk; and Tammy (Mark) Bernardoni, Oglesby; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Cheryl (Bob) Russow, Joliet; and a special friend, Phyliss Ashelman, and her daughter, Dory. He was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 9, 2001; one grandson; and one brother. Pallbearers will be Mark Bernardoni, Mike Seggerman, Bob Jackson, Bill Simmons, Russ Skaggs, Tom Colgan, Stacey Hudson and John Weisenhofer. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Ritzville Times, 12 July, 1917 Mrs. William Clodius The community was saddened by the news of the death of Mrs. William Clodius which occurred last Thursday evening, July 5th, at the family home near Ritzville. Death came after four days of acute illness, although she had been unwell for many weeks. Nervous trouble was the cause of her death. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the German Lutheran church, conducted by the pastor Rev. O. T. Just. Interment was made in the Ritzville cemetery. Mrs. Clodius' maiden name was Grace Luderman (note: her name was Gretje Ludeman) . She was born near Eureka, Ill., on June 7th,1864. She grew to womanhood in that state and was united in marriage to William Clodius at Matamory (note: should read Metamora), Ill., Dec. 17, 1881. In 1883 they moved to Nebraska where they resided until 1906, when they moved to the state of Washington, locating in Adams County where they have since resided. To the union were born seven children, one of whom died in infancy. The others are: Henry, Edward and William, Mrs. Anna Oestreich and Lena, of Ritzville; and Mrs. Emma Clemie of Sprague. They, with her husband, mourn her departure. Two brothers, Henry Luderman (note: should read Ludeman), of Montana, and John Luderman (note: should read Ludeman) of Nebraska, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Sloter of Illinois, are also living.

December 14, 1945 J. D. Conrard Dies at age of 85; Was Lifelong Resident Had suffered Failing Health the Last Five Years; Funeral Services Tuesday Joseph D. Conrard, 85, almost life-long resident of Metamora and former associate in the general store of H. Conrard, a pioneer business establishment in Metamora, died last Saturday at 9:56 p.m. in a Peoria hospital, where he had been a patient during the last year. The body was brought to the home of deceased's sister Miss Victoria Conrard, in Metamora, where friends were received after 2 p.m. Monday. Tuesday at 2 p.m. the body was taken to the Metamora Christian Union Church, where funeral services were conducted by the Rev. I.D. Stehr, Pastor. Dean Robinson sang two numbers, accompanied on the organ my Mrs. Fred C. Grob. Pall bearers were: George Finch of Iroquois, Burton Ranney and Rodney Ranny of Freeport. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery beside the grave of deceased's wife, who was laid to rest there in 1935. At the services, prior to his discourse, Rev. Stehr read the following obituary: Joseph D. Conrard, son of H. and Mary (Thiss) Conrard, was born near Eureka, Illinois, August 9, 1860 and died in a Peoria Hospital December 8, 1945, at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 29 days, death being caused by arteriosclerosis. When but 2 years of age he moved with his parents to Metamora. This place became his home the rest of his life. As a boy he attended the schools of Metamora. When but a young man he began working in his father's store. Later he became a partner with his father and brother Charles in the store known as The H. Conrard Store of Metamora. In September, 1885 he was united in marriage with Miss Annie Wiltz of Metamora. They lived together in Metamora for almost fifty years. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, who died in January 1935; a brother Charles, who died in October 1940; a sister Lillie, who died in 1904 and one brother and one sister who died in infancy. He is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Marie J. Finch, Freeport, Miss Victoria Conrard and Mrs. Blanche Mason of Metamora. Besides these near relatives he leaves a number of distant
relatives and many friends in and around Metamora, who learned to
know him during his many years as a business man and resident of
this community.

Gene W. Cordes
age 72 of Metamora formerly of Washburn passed away at 2:50 p.m.
Friday March 14, 2008 at Snyder Village in Metamora. He was born
April 10, 1935 in Peoria to Clifford W. and Mary E. (Keigwin) Cordes.
He married Lura J. Wright June 4, 1960 in Malta Il. She survives. Surviving are two daughters JoEllyn and Paul Zenisek of Racine Wisconsin, Amy and Phil Lewis of Champaign Illinois. Three sons Brian and Karen Cordes of E. Peoria, Stephen and Julie Cordes of Bartonville, and Dale Cordes of Lexington, South Carolina, and 16 grandchildren. Three sisters: Thirza and Don Clements of St. Joseph Illinois, Lorna and Bob Cobb of Rolling Meadows Illinois, and Emily Noonan of Arlington Texas. Gene graduated from Lowpoint Washburn High School in 1953. He was a Army Veteran serving from 1956 to 1958. Gene was a draftsman at Caterpillar in Mossville for 42 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday March 19, 2008 at Mason Funeral Home, Metamora, the Reverend Doug Lightly officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and also one hour before services at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Linn Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Washburn Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorials to Snyder Village Hall 2 or his church.

Metamora Herald 29 June 1951 Mrs. A. Crawford of El Paso Dies at 85 Mrs. Adelaid Crawford, 85, lifelong resident of El Paso, died at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Mennonite hospital, Bloomington, where she had been a patient since March 20 when she broke her hip in a fall. The body was retained at the Vincent memorial home in El Paso until 2:30 p.m. Sunday when services were held at the El Paso Methodist church with the Rev. Jack B. North officiating. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery. She was born Sept. 24, 1865 in Panola township, the daughter of Thomas and Keziah Clark Scott, and married Harry G. Crawford Feb. 10, 1896. He preceded her in death July 9, 1929. Survivors are one son, Ray S. Crawford of El Paso; one daughter, Mrs. Elsie O. Brenneman of Normal; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was a member of the El Paso Methodist church.

Metamora Herald 12 July 1929 Harry G. Crawford, 61, El Paso, Dies Suddenly Harry G. Crawford, manager of the El Paso Milling company, was found dead about 1:20 p.m. Tuesday beside an automobile he had been loading with sacks of grain near the White Elevator. C. C. Kingdon, manager of the elevator, found Mr. Crawford and called a physician, but death had occurred before the doctor arrived. An inquest was conducted Tuesday night. The coroner's jury found that Mr. Crawford's death was caused by heart disease. Mr. Crawford was born at Pittsburgh, Penn., March 14, 1868 and came to Illinois when 18 years old. He lived most of his life at Panola. Four years ago he gave up farming to take over managership of the milling company. He married Miss Aggie Scott in 1896. She and two children, Ray, who resides on a farm in Panola township, and Mrs. Elsie Brenneman, Minier, survive. Mr. Crawford was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. He had been a city alderman two years. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Methodist church and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

From an untitled, undated obituary Army Hospital Head Dies in New Guinea El Paso - Capt. Nellie Crout died Nov. 30 in Minsinschhasen, New Guinea, according to word received Tuesday by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Crout. She was in the army nurses' corps, and was serving as superintendent of the 13th army general hospital in New Guinea. She was born in El Paso Aug. 15, 1906, a daughter of J. W. and Alice Turner Crout. She graduated from El Paso Township High school in 1924 and received her training at Presbyterian hospital, Chicago. She was a member of the first hospital unit from Passavant hospital, Chicago, to enter army service. Capt. Crout was stationed in Australia six months prior to going to New Guinea on July 3, 1944. Surviving are her parents, two brothers, Maj. George T. Crout, medical corps, Columbus, Ohio; Pvt. Carl Crout, Walla Walla, Wash.; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Schwitters, Carlock; Mrs. Dorothy McAllister, West Lafayette, Ind.; Mrs. Barbara Armstrong, El Paso; Lt. Alice Crout, an army nurse stationed on the Ledo road in Assam.
